The recipes also said to use a glass bottle that sealed but I figured I'd use the bottle I bought since I wasn't going to use it for anything else.

Vodka??? Mint Extract...
I have this plant, it is a chocolate mint plant. after a few close calls with the Arizona sun, it has gotten quite large. So I decide to go online to see what I can do with all this minty goodness. I get sidetracked and find all this amazing information about stuffs and herbs and candles and raising rabbits and stuff... But! then i find this site that mentions making extract using vodka. then I remember "hey I've got this huge mint plant trying to take over my house!" I do some research and there's all these different recipes for vanilla and mint extracts using vodka (I wonder how cinnamon would do :3) some say use a half ratio, like half a cup of mint to a cup of vodka 1 cup to 2 and so forth. and some say to let it sit 2 months some say 2 weeks. I figure eh I'll do it by eye (and nose). So then the challenge becomes how do I procure this vodka as I am not yet the legal age to buy alcohol and I doubt any shop owner would believe me when I tell them I'm going to use it to make mint extract... So I told my dad and he thought it was a cool idea. And then asked my grandma to buy me some lol. That's how my house works, majority vote. Not so formally but when it comes to unusual ideas it helps. I got some cheap little 2 something dollar bottle from the local ghetto grocery store. And I chopped some of the longer strands of mint off and cut em up with some scissors. All the recipes said to use the leaves but I just added the stems too, figured it couldn't hurt it any. Stuffed the mint in the bottle till it looked about right. Shook it up and stuck it in the pantry to hide for a month. We'll see how this goes! :3
